Kailh Box Brown

Updated on: 27 July, 2021

Kailh Box switches feature a unique box design to the stem. The design keeps the stem protected to provide an IP56 rating for dust and moisture. The box design of the stem also reduces any keycap wobble. The Kailh Box Brown is a fantastic tactile switch. It has a firmer tactile bump than the Gateron Brown and is smoother than either the Gateron or Cherry MX Brown.

Summary

Kailh Box Brown

These are my first choice as the best tactile key switch. They have a reassuring tactile bump and are relatively quiet. They can be regarded as middle-of-the-road from a tactile perspective. Some prefer a stronger tactile bump such as with the Zealios V2 or a smoother almost linear-feel bump like the Gateron Brown.

  • Great switch for those that like a mild tactile response.
  • Slightly stronger tactile bump than Gateron Brown.
  • Box design reduces key wobble.
  • Tactile bump near the top of the key travel.
  • Even though better than Gateron Brown, it is still a small tactile bump. Look elsewhere is you like a stronger tactile response. Zealios V2 comes to mind.
