I am not a fan of silent switches due to their more mushy feel. To reduce the noise generated by the switch further, the Silent Red includes a rubber dampener that reduces the noise when the mechanism bottoms-out, similar to adding o-rings to the keycap to reduce travel and dampen the sound. By including the dampener, the activation and travel are slightly reduced. Whilst this does reduce the bottom-out sound, this creates a more spongy and mushy feel.
