Following on from our previous article where we reviewed ExpressVPN, I would like to share a great deal with you from KeepSolid that I have been advised of regarding another popular VPN service.

I may earn a small commission for my endorsement, recommendation, testimonial, and/or link to any products or services from this website. Your purchase helps support my work in bringing you real information about the best technology products. I am an independent blogger and the reviews are done based on my own opinions.

KeepSolid has been a quiet achiever among VPN providers over the years. Their VPN service VPN Unlimited was initially launched in 2013 and has grown to currently have over 25 million users worldwide.

VPN Unlimited offers a zero-log policy, 30-day money-back guarantee, support for up to 10 devices, and supports a wide range of devices.

I am currently in the process of fully reviewing VPN Unlimited and will be bringing you a detailed review soon.

You can access the 20% discount available for all VPN Unlimited plans at the following link.

Please note that this is not yet a full review; however, initial testing is positive and therefore the reason I am happy to share this deal with you.

Initial Thoughts

The feature set seems on par with other VPNs I have tested, but perhaps not as comprehensive as ExpressVPN or CyberGhost, which are my 2 top VPN services.

Split-tunnelling is currently only available in the VPN Unlimited app for Android. I am a big fan of split-tunnelling and how it can help speed up your Internet by splitting VPN traffic from non-VPN traffic. I hope they add split-tunnelling to their other apps soon. I have asked KeepSolid and will update this article when I know more.

An Internet kill switch is supported, but on iOS and macOS, the Internet kill switch is currently available only with the IKEv2 protocol. I usually recommend the WireGuard protocol where it is supported, so it is a shame that the Internet kill switch is not available yet with WireGuard.

You can add a dedicated IP address for an additional cost. However, this does seem to be an expensive add-on at USD 14.99 per month, or USD 12.49 per month if paying annually. I am not sure if the dedicated IP address is worth 3 times the cost of the VPN service.

As well as the typical monthly or annual plans, you can also choose a lifetime subscription plan. This may work out cheaper in the long run, and you can take advantage of the 30-day money-back guarantee to test out the VPN.

Speed & Performance

Whilst I have only been testing VPN unlimited for a short period, my initial impressions are positive. As I am based in Australia, I find that streaming BBC iPlayer content from the UK is a pretty good test of any VPN. I have not found streaming my favourite English programs to be impacted by using the VPN and have not yet experienced any substantial slowdowns or buffering.

I will continue to put VPN Unlimited through my usual set of VPN tests.

They also provide a dashboard that provides the VPN status across supported countries.

Security & Privacy

VPN Unlimited supports a variety of VPN protocols including OpenVPN, IKEv2, and their in-house developed protocol KeepSolid Wise.

It is also great to see that they have included support for WireGuard. I think that WireGuard will become the dominant VPN protocol moving forward. WireGuard is a new VPN protocol that is fast gaining support across VPN services. It offers a simpler protocol, better performance, more reliability, and faster connections/reconnections.

They have a dedicated page comparing the various supported VPN protocols.

Geographic Coverage

VPN Unlimited provides over 500 servers that are distributed over 80 locations. This seems on par with other VPN services.

VPN Unlimited Servers

We typically ignore the number of servers advertised. We have no way of knowing the capacity of the servers, so you cannot determine that a higher number is better.

Device Support

VPN Unlimited is available for Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and also comes as a browser extension for Chrome, Opera, and Firefox.

Similar to other VPNs, you can configure the VPN on supported routers, NAS devices and streaming devices such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire or Roku.

Technical Support

I have not yet contacted the 24/7 online support. The online manuals seem well written and nicely organised around supported platforms.

I am currently enjoying using and testing VPN Unlimited. I have not paid too much attention to it in the past. I think this may be due to the relative lack of advertising when compared to some of the other VPNs.
